New Era of Affordable Housing puts Pressure on Landlords

My wife and I live in a 1920 Farmhouse in Centralia WA. We pay rent of $2079 per month. But the new era of affordable housing is upon us, and we could move to a cheap place like Costilla County CO, with a perfectly serviceable home from Boxable, for total cost probably no more than $80000. Payment for this at even 8% for 30 years is just $587.

I’m not sure what a landlord in this sort of situation is supposed to do …

He has a captive market of people for a year’s lease, but those with a mind to do that can just run out and buy a house!!

It’s a difficult problem for any landlord to solve; best of luck to anyone dealing with this!!
